Great product! Does what it says it does. Feb 24, 2011
I have a 2005 BMW 330i and I wanted to get rid of the chrome window trim. After doing a bit of research of the possible methods, I came across this. A local shop wanted to charge $450 to wrap the chrome around my doors! I found this to be the best option. $6 really? You cannot go wrong. Be advised that you will need two rolls to complete a project like mine. Google BMW chrome window trim to get an idea of how much or little chrome I had to do. I had to order the stuff twice. This does take a lot of time and patience to make sure you get all of the air bubbles out. The finished product is well worth it. I have had this on for about two weeks and have no problems with it. Worst case scenario, I am only out $12 no big deal. Great solution if you are looking to get rid of the chrome!

not as good as the original black out tape!!! Apr 20, 2012
By D Morgan
The original would last for years, but the new tape that replaced it isn't as strong as an adhesive and doesn't stay on as well. Luckily I still have some of the old tape that I'll only use for the exterior of the car and only use the new version on the interior. Hopefully the makers of this tape will see this review and improve their tape once again!

works great Oct 19, 2010
I actually didn't use this to completely black out the silver trim for my car but rather used it to cover up where the black paint was flaking off of the trim around the windows. It says not to place it over paint but its been on the car for over 3 weeks and so far no problems. I have no expertise in applying vinyl but this was very easy to apply and cut with a razor blade. Id definitely recommend it to others.

Black-out tape isn't just for cars! Sep 27, 2014

I love this stuff!! I used it the first time several years ago on a '95 BMW 540-6. It was my first "family car" replacing my beloved red e-30 M3. I didn't want a four door, in my mind it may as well have been a mini van in spite of the fact it was admittedly fast, beautiful and black. Just not for me. ("I don't CARE if the kids are in middle school, they have enough room...they FIT in the back seat of the M3, WHAT'S the problem?") My sweet husband tried to appease me, he replaced the stock brakes with brembos and bought me a set of wheels and low profile tires...still...it looked like a family sedan. ALL THAT CHROME! Then I found this stuff. Two rolls later, my black beauty was transformed! It was like putting a pair of tight jeans and a wifebeater on the pretty teller at the bank, suddenly Miss business becomes the hot chick you never noticed!
Caution, it will do curves, no problem. BUT, you really have to encourage it around the tight ones. Try not to cut it, only if you must. The back seat windows in the 540 were terribly, terribly tight. I put a small piece in the tight spot first, then cut a "relief" in my main strip at that patch allowing to to make the tight, less than 45 degree turn. Less than ideal, but barely noticeable. I think I replaced the tape after about 2 years when it started to peel.
Now for the funny part...this stuff is also great in the house. I used it to cover an aluminum bracket my husband made to mount some of my reef aquarium controls, to cover the stainless steel trim on my otherwise black trash compactor...lots of things at my house need to be blacked out!!! It's durable and a nice satin black finish. Love it, love it, love it! (And I probably don't have to tell you, my husband thins I'm nuts!)
