very good product backed by excellent cust support Sep 12, 2009 After a bit of research I purchaced a pair of these mirrors to use when towing my travel trailer. I have a 2009 Toyota Tacoma. I received 2 mirrors from Amazon. To my suprise they had some minor differences between them. Apparently CIPA changed the design a little bit. I really like the newer design better, as it comes with metal clips that seem to work a lot better then the plastic ones. I also liked the "feet" (that hold it on the back of the mirror) on the newer model a lot better. They are much sturdier and seem to hold better. In any case, you have an option to also purchase convex (wide angle) mirror replacements and a storage bag from the manufacter. When I called to order the convex mirrors, I told them about my concerns. The company send me new clips and new "feet" (along with a bunch of extra sticky feet pads) to replace the ones on the older mirror model (at no charge). After upgrading the older model, and putting in the convex mirrors, they really are excellent towing mirrors. One minor gripe here...if the company had the option of ordering the mirrors with the convex mirror lenses to start with, I would have just done that rather then spend the extra $12.99 on a pair of them. For the record though the convex mirrors only took about 5 min to replace and it was very easy.
A few things to note, they do take a little time to adjust the first time you attach them to your car, but after that they take only a couple minutes to attach or remove. Also, if you leave them on for more then a day, you do need to check them and retighten them, adjust them, etc... I would also suggest trying out the normal mirrors that come with them prior to ordering the convex ones. The normal mirrors were adequite for my first couple of towing trips, but I really like the convex mirrors a lot better, they really show a lot more space and give you a bit more confidence when changing lanes.
When in use, there is very little vibration and you can see very well with them. I wouldn't want to tow anything without them. If they broke, I probably would buy them again. They are made of a pretty sturdy plastic and it seems like they will last for awhile. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars was because you had to order the convex mirrors seperate (after you already purchased the product) and because of the "upgrades" I had to do on the older model, but again, the customer service was excellent and they seem to stand behind their product if you have any issues.

I would not recommend these mirrors to anyone.

Won't fit 2008 Ford Expedition Jul 31, 2009 These mirrors won't fit a 2008 Ford Expedition (Eddie Bauer) with turn signals. Although the two outboard feet are adjustable, the Expedition mirror housing is too curved to get a good purchase. Also, the bottom lip near the turn signal is too shallow for the CIPA clip to get a good grip and it will bend under tension.
Great Value, Great Solution Jul 15, 2009 I'm on my third season towing with these mirrors, and I have to say they do a great job for the money. I bought them to use on my '99 F150 while pulling our TT. I would have preferred the slip-on model, but Cipa's web site states they do not fit the signal-type mirrors. (I have since learned this is not true for the '99 F150, as the signals are integrated in the glass itself, but in 2000, the design changed, and they will not fit from 2000 on.)
If you take time to install and adjust them correctly (initially), and tighten them down well each time, they stay put and mine don't vibrate. Visibility is good, even without the convex mirror.
The only thing I don't like about these is the need for mirror glass adjustment each time they are installed, as I never seem to get them mounted exactly the same way every time. (Not a fault of the mirror, more a fault of the operator.) For this reason, I've been considering upgrading to the slip-on type, but I'm still not sure it's worth the extra $$. I also can't guarantee they'll not get moved while in storage between trips.
All in all, I would not hesitate to recommend these mirrors, either as a budget solution, or if they're needed due to fitment. However, I think I would prefer/suggest the slip-on mirrors if available, and the extra cost is not prohibitive.
Good idea, but needs improvement! Jun 21, 2009 The "idea" itself is good!
Unfortunately, the mirrors do not extend out far enough for an 8 foot travel trailer; the mirrors are too small to see anything; the mirrors vibrate and sag while driving no matter how much you tighten them and you get wind whistle from the "design" of the mirror while driving over 40 mph!
Sorry to say, I am not very happy with the mirrors for my 2008 Toyota Tacoma and I was hoping that this would solve my problem!
Mike T.
